How to make your business online presence work for you

Online presence - digital presence for small business

Online presence or digital presence simply describes how your business appears online. These phrases describe the sum of all the pages in which your business may appear as a result of a search.

For example, you may have a website, social media page and a Yellow Pages listing. Essentially, any site that features your business forms part of your online presence.

If you’ve been in business for over ten years, you’ve probably been managing just fine with word-of-mouth referrals. Perhaps you’ve dabbled with referrer pages such as True Local or Yelp. You may even have set up a business page on facebook or LinkedIn. What you may not have done is considered how to get these pages working for your business.

Get to know your prospective customers

Firstly, you should consider who is likely to view your pages. Do you know who your prospective customers are? You should spend a bit of time profiling your potential customers based on the ones you already have. What are their likes and dislikes? Their values? What might help them connect with your style of business?

Once you know this, you should research other potential pages and figure out which ones would be best to promote your business based on pages your customers are likely to visit. Not sure how? Perhaps take a look at listings other businesses like yours use. Examine what they are posting about and what content is getting the best response?

Write great content

Now that you are a lot more informed, you can write about your goods and services in a way that will appeal to potential clients and the pages you are writing for. You should write a business story. Include what you care about and what is important to you. Make sure your logo, colours and images appear consistently across all your online sites so that wherever your business appears, it is recognisable from one platform to another.

And lastly, don’t forget to add your Call to Action. You may include buttons to email or call your business, or you might want to take advantage of apps like Calendly to enable clients to book a time directly into your calendar.

How we can improve your online presence

Part of Bizz Marketing’s focus is to ensure businesses have a consistent online presence across relevant referral sites. We examine whether there are other sites you should establish a presence on. Think of them as free advertising that provide information on your business 24/7. Prospective clients don’t have to wait until morning to book your services if they can easily book or enquire online. Social media sites take it one step further, enabling businesses to engage with their clients via direct messaging apps.

We help businesses by reviewing their online presence and making suggestions for improvement. This involves getting to know your business and spending time crafting the right message. We shore up your branding elements and look for complementary imaging to help tell the story of your business. And investigate communication channels so your potential clients have several different options to reach out to you.

Going a step further, posting articles and information with the right keywords can attract customers who are looking for products or services like yours. I’ll delve into that a little more in a blog about content marketing.
